Meet Romy, Senior Project Manager at SaaS SEO agency: Skale!

Meet a Senior Project Manager!
Hey Romy, thanks for chatting! Firstly, tell us a little about you…
Born and bred in South Africa, I live in Cape Town and enjoy spending time with family and friends on the beach! I have a BCOM degree in Financial Management, but fell in love with Project Management during my career. I love working with our diverse team at Skale and I am always looking for new ways to grow and develop.
Awesome! What did your onboarding period look like at Skale?
It’s always nerve wracking to start a new job, right? Where do you begin?! I must say, Skale’s approach to onboarding made the transition smooth. Instead of being thrown into the deep end, I was given the opportunity to meet the teams, understand all the roles and their responsibilities, while figuring out how the business operates. It gave me the chance to understand what was expected of me without the immediate pressure.
Sounds like a great introduction to Skale! Give us an idea of what a typical week looks like for you?
Being a Project Manager means your organisational skills need to be tight and you need to have the ability to think ahead. A typical week can include weekly check-in with the teams to ensure they are prepped and supported to meet deadlines, communicating with clients via Slack and following up on potential blockers, collaborating with our off-page, SEO and editorial teams to ensure smooth delivery, and supporting the teams as much as I can!
Wow, that is a varied role! Which aspects of the job do you enjoy the most?
I really enjoy getting to build relationships with so many international colleagues and clients, and helping to support them. I love challenging myself on how we can improve processes to optimise our ways of working. Skale is definitely the right fit for me, as it offers a positive working environment to allow its employees to push boundaries and strive for greatness.
Great! If you were to give one piece of advice to a new Project Manager joining Skale, what would it be?
Be hungry! Be hungry for growth in your career. Be hungry to strive for continuous learning and development to upskill yourself. Have the mindset that you can change the world! Anything is possible if you put fear aside and listen to the “I can do this” voice.
