Meet Arianna, Content SEO at Skale — a fully-remote B2B SaaS SEO agency. Come in and say hello.

We often get asked what it’s like working at Skale during our interviews. There’s also a huge demand to better understand what on earth SEO people do. So, we’re setting about answering both of these questions with a series we’re calling: meet the Skalers -> look at that, not an SEO keyword in sight!

Grab a cup of coffee, and come and meet Arianna with us, Content SEO specialist, travel-lover, and by far our most organized team member!

A week in the life of a Content SEO at Skale

Hola, I’m Arianna, and I’m an SEO Specialist here at Skale. I was born and raised in Venezuela, and I’m currently living in Miami, Florida. I’ve been working at Skale for almost two years. I initially started working as a Link Building Specialist, and have since progressed into a Content SEO Specialist.

Amazing. Arianna, what are your role responsibilities?

My main responsibilities are to help build content strategies for multiple clients, execute and recommend content best practices for users and search engines, and audit content to find opportunities for improvement.

Cool, and what does a typical work day look like for you?

My typical workday starts at 9am, just after going to the gym and having breakfast.

The first thing I do is plan my day and go through my to-do lists and tasks. During the first 1-2 hours of my day I catch up on Slack messages and emails, and there’s usually a client meeting or team meeting where we discuss client progress, SaaS SEO KPIs, deliverables, and projects for the week.

After catching up and going through client calls, I take a 20-minute break to grab some tea (I can’t start my day without tea!)

Around 11 am, I get started on my tasks for the day.  Not every day looks the same as a Content SEO at Skale. Some days I get to do keyword research to find new opportunities for clients, other days I’ll brief clients with SEO guidelines, and on others, I get to give SEO recommendations on clients’ existing content.

My favorite part is when I get to analyze a ranking drop or an underperforming page, as I love the challenge!

What are the common misconceptions of an SEO?

I guess the main misconception is that to work within SEO you need a technical background, or need to be a developer. There’s space for everyone in SEO, you can be a super creative person and still contribute enormously to a website’s growth.

So true! Arianna, what do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy the process of learning about a new industry and business model every single day. One day I can become an expert in interior design software, the other I’m all about speech recognition or cyber security. The best part is that I get to learn all this while doing what I’m most passionate about, which is SEO.

Tell us, why do you love working at Skale? 🙈

One thing I like about Skale is how organized everything is. We are big on getting everything into a system and there’s a place and time for most ideas, tasks, procedures.

My favorite work perk is definitely remote working and flexibility—since I joined Skale, I feel more in control of my life and schedule than ever before. I get to deliver amazing results, learn and achieve awesome things in my career, and work in a performance-orientated environment.

You’re a keen traveler, right? How do you take advantage of remote and flexible work?

Ha! I wouldn’t even know where to begin, I’m good with bullets, let’s try that:

– I get to be at home (which I enjoy a lot) and save time on commuting

– I have time, and feel encouraged, to work on personal projects outside of my job

– I have the flexibility to take control of my day and plan my job around my life—not the other way around

– I get to meet amazing people from all over the world, at this point, I can say I have a friend in almost every big city in Europe

– I can travel anywhere, anytime, as long as I take my laptop with me. I spent a week last summer in Las Vegas, worked during the day, and had the evenings to go out and sightsee. I can also visit my parents who live in Panamá and spend quality time with them.

Which is your favorite employee benefit Skale offers?

My favorite employee benefit at Skale is the learning resources they offer and the learning encouragement culture there is. I have access to expert courses and workshops, and I have allocated time during work every week to get updated on industry changes, improve my skill set, and become better at SEO.

Another employee benefit I love is the monthly wellbeing budget, it gives me the opportunity to allocate it to only my well-being. I use it to buy my favorite healthy snacks and supplements (they can be pricey!) and I get a monthly massage and facial.

Last question for you: do you feel encouraged to grow and succeed at Skale?

Definitely! For me, as I’m very early in my career, I feel like being at Skale has given me the opportunity to grow 5x faster than if I had taken another career path.

There’s a big growth culture in the agency and in every single person we work with. More importantly, there’s space for me to communicate where, and how, I want to grow as an SEO and a marketer.

Gracias and Adios, Arianna!
